HELLO AUSTIN! We’ve just launched 3 networking groups in your area! Each of the groups hold networking events online and over the phone. They are like a cross between a tele-seminar and a webinar with a break out one on one networking event after. Still don’t understand? That’s ok. What you need to know is that these groups and events are awesome. Let me tell you about each of them:

Austin Online Networking is a general networking group for folks of all types. We hold regular networking events and often times have seminars with relevant topics preceeding the networking sessions. Feel free to join Austin Online Networking.

Austin Social Media Networking is for social media types from those who want to use social media more effectively to the developers who are looking to expand the role and functionality of social media. Feel free to join Austin Social Media Networking.

Austin Venture Capital Networking strives to create connections between VCs and entrepreneurs through short conversations. VCs benefit because they can quickly evaluate new ideas without having to drive aimlessly around the city on ideas that aren’t worth their time, entrepreneurs benefit because they have the chance to quickly present to VCs to gauge interest in their concept. Hello Atlanta! You’ve officially got 3 Virtual Networking Groups through LinkedIn.

Atlanta Online Networking is there for all of your local networking needs, think of it as a Chamber of Commerce on speed. Here’s the link to join Atlanta Online Networking.

Atlanta Social Media Networking exists for social media entrepreneurs, users, and developers to talk about what is happening on the national and local level in the social media stratosphere. Here is the link to join Atlanta Social Media Networking.

Atlanta Venture Capital Networking exists to connect VCs and entrepreneurs in a no-hassle manner. We quickly connect VCs to entrepreneurs so that they can evaluate ideas and projects without having to fly around the country or brave Atlanta’s famous traffic. Entrepreneurs have the chance to meet VCs and let them know about what they’re doing. Where else can you network in this arena so efficiently? We’re encouraging the use of “hashtags” on twitter during our events. When you’re in a virtual event and you’re twittering information related to the event you can have your comments aggregated with other’s comments about the event.

Using hashtags is easy.

1. You must follow @hashtags on twitter to activate hashtags.org to recognize your posts.
2. At the beginning of the event you will be given the hashtag for the group. For instance, Boston Online Networking’s Hashtag is #BON.
3. At the end of your twitter posts about the event simply type # and the group’s hashtag.
4. Follow the comments at http://www.hashtags.org/tags/THETAG/ for instance Boston Online Networking’s page is at http://www.hashtags.org/tags/BON/.

If you don’t understand or aren’t interested in using this, don’t worry, it’s absolutely not necessary. We just want to make sure we’re on top of the current trends and are always providing resources and solutions for all of our members.

I should say, a speaker proposal doesn’t need to be something lofty and vaulted, simply email me with your name, topic and reasons why you’d be the best person to have speak and I’ll give you a call and we’ll talk. Note that the proposals for Venture Capital Networking will most likely have some overlap with Boston VC, New York VC and DC VC, as well as future groups and that all of these groups networking/seminar events are held online and over the phone.
